At Andorinhas, our team is small but deeply dedicated to caring for women, babies, and families. I am currently the only midwife in the practice, as well as its founder and creator. Alongside me, I have built a trusted babysitting team of two wonderful women, Bet and Nidia, who have been trained to care for newborn babies with gentleness and responsibility.
Our babysitting team not only supports families with day-to-day care but also observes and reports carefully, ensuring that the right care, advice, or referrals can be given whenever needed. Together, we share the same heart: to offer families peace of mind, trustworthy support, and compassionate care in this precious stage of life.
About Midwife Tashmyn

Hii, my name is Tashmyn, I am a midwife living and working in the Algarve, Portugal. I founded Andorinhas on the 21st of March 2023 with the desire to support women, babies, and families with compassionate, personal care. Listening, encouraging, and equipping them in this beautiful but sometimes challenging journey.
I was born in 1993 in the Netherlands. Both my parents are from Curaçao, and when I was twelve, my mother decided to go back home — with me by her side. I lived on Curaçao till 2011, then I moved back to the Netherlands to study. In the summer of 2017, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in midwifery in Antwerp, Belgium. Since I was 11 years old, I was always determined to become a midwife, so that graduation is one of my greatest accomplishments. In the summer of 2018, I obtained my bachelor’s degree in nursing in Flushing, the Netherlands.
I started working as a carer and later as a nurse in 2012. In Portugal, I have interned and worked as a midwife in the hospital for almost a year, throughout the years 2017 to 2019. Then, when I officially moved to Portugal in October 2019, I started working as a nurse and midwife in clinics and for home care organisations. In 2020, I started working as a midwife in home settings on the side, then in 2022, I decided to stop everything else and focus on midwifery.
In 2019, I did a couple of months of voluntary work as a midwife in Malawi. And officially, since 2025, I am a missionary going on missions and helping out as a midwife and nurse wherever needed. I plan to go on these missions twice a year with the nongovernmental organisation Hope For Fulanis.
About The Babysitting Team
To further support families in the Algarve, Andorinhas also offers newborn care through our babysitting service. I am so thankful to have two wonderful women working with me in this part of the practice:
Bet – Bet is caring, responsible, and full of warmth. She has a natural ability to make both babies and parents feel at ease. With her gentle presence, she brings reassurance to families, knowing their little ones are in safe and loving hands.
Nidia – Nidia brings energy, kindness, and patience to every home she visits. She loves caring for babies and supporting parents in practical ways. Families value her reliability and the joy she shares with the little ones she cares for.
Together, we are here to serve you and your family with trust, compassion, and dedication. At Andorinhas, our heart is to care not only for mothers and babies, but also to strengthen families with the support they need.
